X4MIS Change Management Methodology Knowledge Base
The X4MIS Methodology is based on lessons learned implementing change programs across the globe. It is founded on decades of experience from change managers, change leaders, change teams and key stakeholders to provide a structured approach to enable the people side of change.
The methodology knowledge base provides structured easy-to-use process, tools and best practices which you can apply to projects while building your individual and organisational change management capabilities.
X4MIS Methodology is split into 4 functions - Compose, Manage, Embed and Enable.Ā
Each function contains process and template resources describing the Methodology steps, ToolsĀ (templates) to use and Resources (stories & articles) supporting the change function.
Compose The Change
The Compose function provides the tools to analyse all points of contact which impact a change initiative.
Manage The Change
This function prescribes the process to manage your change initiative using a Change Implementation Plan (CIP).
Embed The Change
The success of every change is the way in which the people impacted by the change adopt the new way of working.
Enable Your People
The Enable function provides the tools and processes to enabling the change team to deliver a successful change.
COMPOSE THE CHANGE
The Compose function provides tools to analyse orgsanisational elements which impact a successful change initiative
- The level of change required is driven by the impact on the organisation, customers and people.
- The full impact of the change will be confirmed during the Compose stage.
- The Compose function defines the scope of the change.

MANAGE THE CHANGE
Develop a detailed Change Management Plan with the output of the Compose function
- This function starts in parallel with the compose function, you build the plan as your complete each activity
- The Change Implementation Plan will define the best approach to minimise the impact of the change, to aid a successful transition, by ensuring regular and effective communication is provided throughout theĀ transformation.

ENABLE YOUR PEOPLE
Ensure the change team has the competencies to thrive in a transformation environment
- Efficient and effective change management requires a team approach. Sponsors and managers also require the competencies and capacity to make sense of the complexity of the transformation.
- The challenge is to rapidly build up new competencies quickly, following a balanced approach employing a mix of internal development of competencies and accessing of expertise from external sources.
