Integrate change with the project

Integrating the Change and Project plans

The use of change management tools by portfolio, program, and project managers can provide multiple benefits:

Project Management ensures the project is delivered successfully. Change Management ensures that employees embrace the project. Change Management and Project Management both seek to contribute to the success of business initiatives.  Thus, an integrated approach is designed to execute the direction and goals of the company.

It is important to note:

  • The Transformation Programme is not divided between Project Management and Change Management. There is one path for achieving business objectives and organisational value.
  • Change Management activities are seamlessly embedded within the project life cycle so that change management is not seen as an activity or process that is separate to the transformation programme.
  • It provides the ability to leverage joint opportunities so that stakeholder engagement activities become more streamlined – for example, providing project sponsors with change leadership coaching and project status updates.
  • It provides the project team with better insights into understanding organisational impacts and stakeholder concerns, so the team can modify its approach and design decisions and proactively minimise potential resistance.
